A Guide to Thailand Islands- Part 2

17 November 2018

For many people, the visit to Thailand islands is the most anticipated experience, as Thai islands are universally known for their beauty and serenity.

Here is an introduction to Thai islands which can be the highlight of your visit to the country.

Phuket

Phuket, the largest Thai island, is mesmerizing. Located in the Andaman Sea, Phuket is one of the most popular places to visit in Thailand, and rightly so. This island offers the best of nature, luxury, shopping, nightlife and food, and at the same time, there is the opportunity to explore numerous other islands while you stay in Phuket. Phuket has a wide range of accommodation options, and many of the best luxury resorts of Thailand are located there.

Koh Similan

The Similan Islands are a group of islands in the Andaman Sea, the biggest of which is Koh Similan. The island offers sandy beaches and very clear and deep waters. That is why Koh Similan is considered as one of the best places in Thailand for snorkeling and diving. Also, Similan Islands are ideal for watching underwater life, which has become one of the main attractions of these set of Thai islands.

Koh Chang and Koh Si Chang

Many visitors to Thailand are confused by these very similar names. Actually Koh Chang and Koh Si Chang are located at completely different geographical positions: Koh Chang is in the Andaman Sea, near Phuket. But Koh Si Chang is located in the Gulf of Thailand, near Bangkok.

Koh Chang consists of beautiful beaches, hiking trails, jungle-covered mountains and amazing waterfalls. So adventure lovers have much to enjoy on this island.

Koh Si Chang, on the other hand, has a laid back atmosphere, where you can chill out. There is no beach life here, because the coast is rugged and rocky in many places. Still, the water is clear and ideal for snorkeling and diving.

Koh Phayam

Koh Phayam is a funny island on the map, because it is shaped like a kangaroo. This Thai island is close to Koh Chang, only it is more developed than its neighbor. The natural coral reefs of Koh Phayam are a sight to see, and the tourism developments has not affected the amazing nature of the island. The beaches on this island are quiet and the rhythm of life is slow, which is ideal for peace-seeking visitors.

Koh Yao Noi & Koh Yao Yai

Koh Yao islands consist of Koh Yao Yai (the bigger island) and Koh Yao Noi (the smaller island). The bigger island is not as developed as the smaller island, but both of them are perfect for those who seek the best of relaxation and sun. In recent years, Koh Yao Noi has become one of the ideal spots in Thailand for luxury honeymooning, due to the presence of amazing luxury resorts and the relative tranquility and serenity on the island.
